CWL 2015

Mission Statement

The Catholic Women’s League of Canada is a national organization rooted in gospel values calling its members to holiness through service to the people of God

The Catholic Women’s League of St. Patrick’s is dedicated to serving the Parish and supporting our Pastor, Father Matthew To. Our meetings begin and end in prayer and we take part in several faith based activities throughout the year including our Half Day of Recollection and the World Day of Prayer. We cater Parish events as well as funeral reception. Our members are involved in many other Parish groups such as Parish Council, Discipleship Team, Choirs, Youth Ministry, Migrant Workers’ Ministry, Prison Ministry, PREP, Legion of Mary, monthly Masses at Senior Residences, and members clean the church and brass. We cater for First Holy Communion and Confirmation. We support the school and the Youth Ministry.

We support the military by wearing red scarves on Fridays and raise funds for BC Cancer Foundation through the sale of pink scarves that we wear on Tuesdays. We support Ridge-Meadows Hospital Foundation, Agape Street Ministry, sponsor a child through Chalice. We contribute to Our Lady of Good Counsel – Domestic Abuse Society (which was founded by the CWL) and Eva’s House (a safe house that houses 4 families) by taking part in their annual Walk-A-Thon and supporting their fundraiser events. We provide backpacks for Iron Horse Youth Safe House.

Recently, a resolution put forward by our Sister Parish St. Luke’s was the base of Bill C36, which criminalizes the purchasers of sexual services. (The johns and pimps who buy prostitutes.)   This resolution has also been adopted by the World Union Of Catholic Women Organization (WUOCWO). We signed petitions, wrote letters to our MP Randy Kamp and held a postcard campaign to ask for support for this bill. We just recently held our White Ribbon Against Pornography Campaign and it was a success with help from all of you signing our white ribbon.
