What is prayer?

For me, prayer is a surge of the heart; it is a simple look turned toward heaven, it is a cry of recognition and of love, embracing both trial and joy. (St. Therese of Lisieux)

Take the time to feed your soul and grow in your relationship with the Lord. Learn about prayer and become active in your spiritual growth.

Where to begin?

The simplest way to begin prayer is to just begin. Open up your heart and mind to the presence of the Lord and simply speak to Him about your present state, your needs, etc. Thank Him for being with you, praise Him for His greatness and His boundless love. Ask Him to teach you how to pray and to send you graces and virtue. It is always good to join the saints, angels and others in the world by saying the prayer Jesus gave us: the Our Father. Say it slowly, with purpose and attention. Don’t forget to be silent for a few minutes and allow the Lord to speak to your heart.

There are many standard prayers of the Church and many ways to pray. Take your time and explore the many resources available at the RCAV website .
