Prayer Ministry

Jesus says to the woman at the well, “Ask Him, and He will give you living water.” (John 4:10)

Our prayer ministry is a team of people that, as instruments, want to use our gift of prayer to bring every person into the abiding love of the Heavenly Father, so that they may receive living water.

With our prayers, we participate in the healing ministry of the Church. We have a supernatural trust in the miracles of God, who deeply loves and wants an abundant life for every person.

“For truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.” (Matthew 17:20)

Ways of support

What is “Prayer Ministry”?

At Pentecost, Christ sent forth the Holy Spirit into the Apostles and they received fire (Acts 2). Each received a gifted ability and burning heart to proclaim the Gospel and bring the power of Christ’s miracles into the world! Empowered by the Spirit they were sent out “to Judea, Sumaria and all nations, including Maple Ridge.

Like Simon who saw the work of Peter and John, called out and asked for this gift: “Give me also this power so that anyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit.” (Acts 8:19)

This activity of the Spirit did not end at Pentecost! When we were Baptized we were baptized into this same mission. By this ministry of the Catholic Church that we have all been Baptized into, we respond wholeheartedly by praying with and for people, that they may receive the Holy Spirit, experience the miracles they seek, be healed (, receive the Holy Spirit and encounter God who is the living water, on Earth.

Pray for Me

Thank you for your courage and vulnerability to ask for prayers. Expect an email from our staff. They will contact you regarding your petition, and to assure you of our prayers.

In your time of need and when it is often the hardest to pray, we hope you seek love and comfort in the Holy Spirit. “The Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but that very Spirit intercedes with sighs too deep for words.” (Romans 8:26). Even when we are unable to pray or unsure of the words, the Holy Spirit advocates for us on our behalf, with sighs too deep for words. We hope you know God’s profound, intimate love.

For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope. (Jeremiah 29:11)

Pray with Someone

Blessed are you who are poor,
for yours is the kingdom of God.

Blessed are you who are hungry now,
    for you will be filled.

Blessed are you who weep now,
    for you will laugh.

Luke 6: 20 – 21

With the grace of the Holy Spirit and in family with the saints and apostles, we can continue on their ministry of healing by the laying of hands. We pray with confidence for whatever is ailing you, and surrender the outcome and healing entirely to God, with trust that He is Good. This is a personal option for you, especially if you are suffering in loneliness, we hope praying with us is a balm for your soul.

Concerns about touch: If you are not comfortable with physical touch, the actual laying of our hands is not necessary.

Opportunities to Pray With Someone:

  • Schedule a time in the Adoration Chapel […]
  • Upcoming Healing Mass
Join the team

Because of the sensitivity involved in praying with individuals, often vulnerable individuals, we hope you understand that joining the prayer ministry is an application process that will involve screening. This is not to deter you from joining! But to comfort the people seeking out the parish prayer team and establish trust.

As we are in the middle of piloting our new prayer ministry team we are not actively inviting new members, however, please leave us your email and we will contact you in the future! It’s our hope and intention that this ministry grows and our prayers to the Holy Spirit become the living water for our parish.

Personal prayer

If you ask for the Holy Spirit, you will receive! For great Catholic resources on personal prayer, see more Behold.

“So I say to you, Ask, and it will be given to you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you. For everyone who asks receives, and everyone who searches finds, and for everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. Is there anyone among you who, if your child asks for[e] a fish, will give a snake instead of a fish? Or if the child asks for an egg, will they give a scorpion? If you then, who are [sinners], know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” (Luke 11: 9)
