St. Patrick’s Holy Week Schedule

Father Paul, staff and volunteers are here for you this Holy Week. This is the most special time of the liturgical year for Catholics, and a blessed opportunity to draw near to Jesus.

Sunday, April 10th

Palm Sunday is the final Sunday of Lent, the beginning of Holy Week, and celebrates Jesus’s arrival in the city of Jerusalem, days before he was crucified.

In the Gospels, Jesus entered Jerusalem riding a young donkey, with praise from the townspeople who threw clothes, or possibly palms or small branches, in front of him as a sign of homage. This was a customary practice for people of great respect.

Palm branches are widely recognized as a symbol of peace and victory.

Palm Sunday – regular Sunday Mass schedule.

Thursday, April 14th

Mass of the Lord’s Supper 7 PM

with the Washing of the Feet

Holy Thursday (sometimes referred to as Maundy Thursday) is when we commemorate the Last Supper. The final meal Jesus had with his disciples before he went out to the mount of olives, the evening before he was arrested.

Join us as we recall the story of the first celebration of the Eucharist. Recall the gift that Jesus has given us in his body and blood and remember his humble actions that evening as he washed the feet of his disciples. A sign for us of the need to do more to love one another and to serve all people, especially the poor.

“You call me Teacher and Lord — and you are right, for that is what I am. So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have set you an example, that you also should do as I have done to you.” –
Jn 13: 14-15

Friday, April 15th

Good Friday is a solemn day of fasting and abstinence, commemorating the Passion of Christ. On this day, Jesus was denied by his friends, and handed over to die.

12 (noon)

Join us for Stations of the Cross, a devotion that recalls the journey of Jesus from the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem to Calvary where he was crucified.

After the Stations of the Cross join us for Bread & Soup in Holy Grounds.

3 PM

At the three o’clock hour today, we honor Christ’s death with the Veneration of the Cross in prayer, song and silence.

Today is called ‘good’ because we know this is not the end of the story.
We recall the death of Jesus and its promise of hope and new life.

“God has made Him both Lord and Messiah, this Jesus whom you crucified.” Acts 2:36

Saturday, April 16th
