Bulletin: 33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time

You are invited to a special 2-night Advent Retreat to prepare your hearts for the coming of our Lord.
Fr. Chrysostom Mijinke, O.P.
Parochial Vicar at Stanford University
Fr. Chrysostom Mijinke, O.P. is from Langley, British Columbia, near Vancouver. After a powerful encounter with God as a teenager, he began a lifelong journey of faith and a desire to help others experience the same. Following his undergraduate studies, he spent five years travelling through Europe and Canada, working in restaurants and on on-shore oil rigs before beginning theological studies in Ottawa. There, he met the Dominicans and entered the Western Dominican Province in 2013.
Ordained in 2021, Fr. Chrysostom most recently served as campus minister at the University of Washington and as director of young adult ministry.
He completed the Encounter School of Ministry program and is passionate about evangelization, healing, and discipleship. He enjoys hiking, backpacking, and long-distance running.

Father Matthew will be away from the parish Tuesday the 18th through Friday the 21st of November for the annual priests week of study.
There is no daily Mass, Confessions or Adoration This Week.
Please join us in praying for our pastors as they seek to grow in wisdom and knowledge in order to lead us all on our lifelong faith journey.

Our parish relies on your generosity. Your donations each year directly impact our ability to minister to those in need, to provide special programs such as Alpha and CGS, to offer small group faith studies, to maintain our buildings, and to grow our parish school.

Your generosity this weekend helps the Catholic faith reach communities where the Church relies on outside support to grow and flourish. With your help, people in remote and isolated areas, including First Nations communities and other regions of British Columbia and the Yukon, can receive the sacraments and pastoral care. Together, you help extend the Church’s mission from your parish to places where faith needs a helping hand. Give online at rcav.org/second-collection or in person at your parish. Â
Mass Intentions
The Catholic Church dedicates the entire month of November to the Holy Souls in Purgatory. During this month we pray for the souls of the faithful departed, especially those whom we have known and loved. The season of Holy Souls reveals our reflection of our own mortality, celebrating and mourning those who have gone before us, and gently gathering the past into God’s loving embrace.
We commemorate all the faithful departed by remembering, praying, and giving thanks.

Standing with the Persecuted Church
These days—especially in places like ours—it can be hard to imagine that people are still discriminated against, or even persecuted, simply for their beliefs. Yet, for millions around the world, this is a daily reality. Currently, an estimated 327 million Christians worldwide live in countries where religious persecution is rampant. They are at risk of being attacked, arrested, imprisoned, tortured, and, in the worst cases, killed, solely on the basis of their beliefs.* It is also estimated that 75 percent of religiously motivated violence targets Christians, possibly making them the most persecuted religious group in the world. And the situation is not improving. In fact, year after year, it is getting worse. Persecution comes from many sources. In some countries, it is state-driven—often under communist or authoritarian regimes that see the Church as a threat to their control. In others, it comes from rival religious groups seeking to dominate by eradicating any competing faith. Yet in the face of this suffering, persecuted Christians remain resilient. They draw strength from our prayers, which remind them that they are not alone and that the universal Church stands with them in solidarity and love.
Red Wednesday, is on November 19, and Red Week initiatives occur from November 16 to 23, 2025.
Join us Sunday, November 23rd to pray for persecuted Christians around the world.
Father Matthew is inviting us to come together in prayer for persecuted Christians Sunday the 23rd before each of our morning Masses.
Prayers begin at 8:30am and 10:45am respectfully.
