Ministry Updates & Upcoming Events
Please join us this Sunday following the conclusion of the 11:15am Mass for our bi-weekly Food Recovery Giveaway.
We are so grateful to our donors, without whom this ministry could not be offered to our community. This week we are grateful to the Friends in Need Food Bank, Food Bank on Wheels, the Port Coquitlam Costco, Shoppers on 240th, the Shaughnessy Safeway Bakery, and Starbucks on both 227th and at the Valley Fair Mall.
This week we are trying something new to ease the traffic flow into the gymnasium.
We request individuals who are utilizing mobility aids such as walkers or canes, or who are unable to walk quickly or easily into the gymnasium to please form a separate line at the gate. Families with children, able bodied individuals, and individuals with large carts are asked to please still remain in the usual lineup. We will be inviting those with mobility challenges to enter the gymnasium first, followed by all others shortly after.

Seasons of Hope Bereavement Group Grieving is a sacred process, and expressing loss is essential to healing. You are invited to participate in the upcoming Seasons of Hope Bereavement Group at Gardens of Gethsemani. This is a free, 6-week series that runs every Saturday from April 18 to May 30. 40 Days for Life Vancouver
40 Days for Life is an internationally focused pro-life campaign of prayer, fasting, and peaceful vigil for the protection of life from conception to its natural end. You are invited to take part by signing up individually or with your parish group.

Religion Amid the Russo-Ukrainian War
Visiting Eastern religion, politics expert Dr. Pavlo Smytsnyuk looks at Russian Orthodox and Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church tensions and issues of nationalism, identity, and religious freedom. St. Gemma Galgani: Mystic and Saint Saint
Gemma Galgani witnesses to the radical call of following Christ. Although suffering family tragedy, longterm illness, and rejection from religious communities, these experiences brought her closer to the wounds of Jesus. Health Ethics Seminar & Conference
Providence Health Care is hosting its Annual Health Ethics Seminar from April 20–23, followed by its Annual Conference on April 24, 2026.
The four-day seminar will take place at Hotel Willo in downtown Vancouver and offers an intensive, case-based learning experience for those interested in navigating ethical dilemmas in health care. Topics include informed consent, substitute decision-making, involuntary treatment, health ethics and the law, and ethical issues at the beginning and end of life.
The event concludes with a one-day conference on Friday, April 24, bringing together health-care professionals, academic partners, and community members for plenary speakers and discussion.

Faith and Science Scholarship
The Vancouver Chapter of the Society of Catholic Scientists is excited to announce the 2026Faith and Science Essay Competition. Awards will be presented to two Catholic students enrolled in a science discipline at a post-secondary institution within the Archdiocese of Vancouver. The competition is open to both undergraduate and graduate students.
The awards are as follows:
- First Place: $1,000
- Second Place: $500
Submissions will be evaluated based on content and quality of the applicant’s essay or video reflection, with GPA not considered in the assessment.
The application deadline is May 15, 2026 at 11:59 p.m.
Awardees will be announced by the end of May. Application details are available at catholicscientistsvan.org/scholarship
The St. Patrick’s Catholic Women’s League (CWL) is awarding a $500.00 Bursary to any St. Patrick’s Parishioner graduating from Grade 12 in 2026, who is attending their first year of a Post Secondary Institution, Seminary or Convent and is a practising Catholic.

Grant that they may devote themselves to their studies and draw ever closer to you, the source of all knowledge. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
