Bulletin: Jesus Christ, King of the Universe

You are invited to a special 2-night Advent Retreat to prepare your hearts for the coming of our Lord.
Fr. Chrysostom Mijinke, O.P.
Parochial Vicar at Stanford University
Fr. Chrysostom Mijinke, O.P. is from Langley, British Columbia, near Vancouver. After a powerful encounter with God as a teenager, he began a lifelong journey of faith and a desire to help others experience the same. Following his undergraduate studies, he spent five years travelling through Europe and Canada, working in restaurants and on on-shore oil rigs before beginning theological studies in Ottawa. There, he met the Dominicans and entered the Western Dominican Province in 2013.
Ordained in 2021, Fr. Chrysostom most recently served as campus minister at the University of Washington and as director of young adult ministry.
He completed the Encounter School of Ministry program and is passionate about evangelization, healing, and discipleship. He enjoys hiking, backpacking, and long-distance running.

Our parish relies on your generosity. Your donations each year directly impact our ability to minister to those in need, to provide special programs such as Alpha and CGS, to offer small group faith studies, to maintain our buildings, and to grow our parish school.

Support our parish and archdiocesan initiatives.
We need your help!  Please donate to Project Advance before the end of the year. Your essential gift supports the core of our faith community. This campaign pays for the important work that happens across the Archdiocese every day. Including training future priests, keeping our Catholic schools strong, and running essential programs in our parishes. We need your donation to keep these ministries going and growing. When you give, you directly help people in need and ensure the future of our Catholic faith in this area. Your support makes all of this possible. All donations are tax deductible. Â
Mass Intentions
The Catholic Church dedicates the entire month of November to the Holy Souls in Purgatory. During this month we pray for the souls of the faithful departed, especially those whom we have known and loved. The season of Holy Souls reveals our reflection of our own mortality, celebrating and mourning those who have gone before us, and gently gathering the past into God’s loving embrace.
We commemorate all the faithful departed by remembering, praying, and giving thanks.

Ministry Updates & Upcoming Events

Please join us this Sunday for a Food Recovery Program Giveaway. Doors open at 12:30pm or after the 11:15am Mass is completed, whichever is later.
We are always grateful to our generous donors, without whom this program could not provide the many resources we are blessed to offer to the community. We are especially grateful to our partner organizations, Second Harvest and Food Bank on Wheels.
This weekend we will be offering foods and resources from Costco in Port Coquitlam, Costco in Burnaby, Safeway Bakery, Save On Foods, Shoppers, and Starbucks.
Thank you so much!
Our parish is the very grateful recipient of a generous grant offered to us through Second Harvest from the Starbucks organization as well as a gift from our parish school; which, when combined, has given us the ability to expand our storage capacity and purchase a dedicated refrigerator for our Knights of Columbus and School Lunch Program and an additional industrial freezer dedicated to our Food Recovery Program. These additions will greatly increase the ability of our ministry programs to provide for all who come to our events.
Please join us in offering up our ‘Thank Yous’ to the generosity of others so that we may serve those most in need.
Thank you Lord for one incredible freezer!

Advent Prayer by Henri Nouwen
Although Advent is supposed to be a time of deep reflection, joy, and preparation for Christmas, it can also be a time of busyness, stress, and a never ending to-do list. But prayer has a way of helping us see what matters most…and what doesn’t matter much at all. Next time you’re feeling overwhelmed, take a moment to pray the following prayer:
Lord Jesus,
Master of both the light and the darkness, send your Holy Spirit upon our preparations for Christmas. We who have so much to do and seek quiet spaces to hear your voice each day, We who are anxious over many things look forward to your coming among us. We who are blessed in so many ways long for the complete joy of your kingdom. We whose hearts are heavy seek the joy of your presence. We are your people, walking in darkness, yet seeking the light. To you we say, “Come Lord Jesus!’
Amen.
