St. Pat’s Highlights

Please join us for this Fall Alpha course.

Registration opening soon.  We hope you’ll join us!

September 17th at 6:30pm &
September 18th at 9am

Please save the dates and consider who you might bring for an enjoyable evening or morning of good conversation, good food, good company, and a lot of good thoughts.

Alpha at St. Patrick’s is an experience intended to immerse you and leave you glowing with a freshening of your spirit and your connection to God.  It takes an amazing team of incredible humans to make everything come together at each session so that when you join us, you truly can enjoy a meal, relax into the video, converse at length and deeply with fellow Alpha-explorers, feel welcomed, loved, and appreciated for all that you are and all that you bring with you.

Over the next few weeks we would like to introduce you to our core leaders who guide and direct the evening and morning Alpha series here at St. Patrick’s.

Our team for the Fall 2025 Alpha Series is comprised of Mitch Ferraris, Krystal Howard, Mike Albrecht (Evening Alpha), and Shelly Head (Morning Alpha).

Please welcome Krystal Howard as part of our Alpha CORE team. Come and say ‘hi’ to her; she can help answer any Alpha related questions. Krystal will be present at the Alpha program on Wednesday evenings.

Who are you, where are you from, how long you have been at St. Patrick’s.

Hi, I’m Krystal Howard.  I’m originally from Toronto and joined the St. Patrick’s community in September, 2022.

Your favourite thing to do on a day-off?

Long walks along the dikes with my husband.

Why do you want to volunteer at Alpha?

I can’t get enough of the conversations and love helping to build a stronger community at St. Pat’s. The Holy Spirit is so present and it is such a privilege to watch him work!

Please tell us one guilty pleasure…

Eating whipped cream straight from the can.

Archbishop Smith asks for continued support for Sept. 14 Healing and Reconciliation collection

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Thank you so very much for the warm welcome extended to me as the new Archbishop. I am really enjoying getting to know the people of this local Church. In particular, I look forward to meeting the Indigenous Peoples of this area.

One of the most important things I’ve learned from our Indigenous brothers and sisters across Canada is the power of listening—truly listening. Taking the time to hear someone’s story is a way of saying: “You are worthy of being listened to.” It is a profound way of honouring the dignity of the person.

As I begin my ministry here, I carry in my heart the call to truth and healing between the Church and Indigenous peoples. It has been part of my ministry for many years, and I have witnessed both the wounds of our past and the hope that grows when we walk together.

One concrete way we continue this journey is through our Healing and Reconciliation Collection on September 14.

The projects supported by this collection are shaped locally in partnership with First Nations communities. These initiatives are helping Indigenous peoples embrace their identity through language revitalization, cultural knowledge, and wellness. These projects connect individuals who might otherwise feel isolated and help ensure that those who have often faced discrimination can access healthcare and other services with dignity and respect.

These efforts remind us that reconciliation is not just an institutional effort, but a human journey that touches lives and builds hope, one person at a time.

I invite each of you to pray for ongoing healing and consider supporting this collection. Together, we can help bring about the vision of unity to which Christ calls us.

With every blessing,

✠ Richard W. Smith Archbishop of Vancouver
