Bulletin: 17th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Our parish relies on your generosity. Your donations each year directly impact our ability to minister to those in need, to provide special programs such as Alpha and CGS, to offer small group faith studies, to maintain our buildings, and to grow our parish school.
Your Project Advance tax-deductible donation will fund important works such as:
- Youth and young adults ministry in our parishes
- The construction of new Catholic schools
- Programs that support healthy families
- Feeding the homeless and vulnerable in the Downtown Eastside
- Pastoral ministry and support for the hospitalized
Once St. Patrick’s parish goal is met, all additional funds raised will be directed back to parish projects identified by your Pastor and parish team. Thank you so much for your generosity.

Plenary Indulgence on the occasion of the fourth World Day of Grandparents and the Elderly
On Thursday, July 18 2024, the Holy See published a Decree granting a Plenary Indulgence for those who take part in the celebrations of the Day or who visit the elderly alone. More information from the Vatican website.
“Do not cast me off in my old age.” —Psalm 71:9
The Fourth World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly, celebrated this year on July 28, 2024, is an important occasion for the life of our ecclesial communities. Attending to our grandparents and the elderly is not only a sign of gratitude and affection, but a necessity in the construction of a more human and fraternal society. The Holy Father invites us to recognise their value and to do so permanently, not just occasionally. It is not a matter of celebrating an anniversary once a year, but of making the elderly feel like an integral part of our Christian family and our common history. The successive generations of elderly people must be taken seriously, and the Church must give them appropriate pastoral attention. We invite everyone to consider how they can honour their grandparents and the elderly in their communities. Learn more at beholdvancouver.org/events.
Lord, faithful God,
You who created us in Your image,
You who never leaves us alone
and who accompanies us through every season of life,
Do not abandon us, take care of us,
And grant us, once again,
The ability to discover ourselves
and recognise that we are Your children.
Renew our hearts with your Word
And do not allow anyone to be cast aside.
May your Spirit of love fill us with Your tenderness
And teach us to say:
“I will not abandon you!”
To those we meet on our journey.
With the help of your beloved Son,
may we not lose the taste for fraternity
And may we not conform to the sadness of loneliness.
Help us to look to the future with renewed hope,
And make the World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly
A day without loneliness, and a day abundant
with the first-fruits of Your peace.
Amen.
Congratulations to Darijo Feiglestock on your baptism.
May God fill you with love and joy through the years ahead.
Thank you to Sanjay and his helpers for your hard work and long hours installing a much needed AC Unit for the rectory and the church main building. We are very grateful to you and your team.
Every act of help and support keeps our parish running and is an integral part of achieving our parish mission. We are so very grateful to all.

Sponsor a Youth for the Arise Youth Retreat
We are so excited to announce that we have filled all the spots to send some of our young people to the Arise Camp Retreat that is happening in North Vancouver at the end of August. We will be starting fundraising soon BUT we wanted to give you, our parish family, an opportunity to sponsor a youth for Arise.
The cost per young person is $500.
What would it be like if our young people filled the pews of our churches, took on leadership roles at St. Patrick’s and had a personal encounter with Jesus?
We believe this retreat could be a stepping stone in introducing the idea that young people too have a role to play in the future Church. Your generous contribution could help raise up and begin the formation process for our young leaders in the parish.
1 Timothy 4:12 says, “Let no one despite you in your youth, but set the believers as an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity”.
Thank you in advance for your contribution and generous hearts!
Please contact Hannah Powell if you are interested in sponsoring a youth
You were called by God for a purpose, and were given gifts and charisms by the Holy Spirit at the time of your Baptism and Confirmation. Discover your special gift through the Called & Gifted program now being offered through St. Patrick’s
During Lent we are called to Fast, Pray and Give Alms; many in our community need help. At St. Patrick’s we strive to support our community both in spirit and in body.
If you or someone you know is in need of prayers or support, please reach out.
In Recognition of our Small Business Owners
