Bulletin: 26th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Our parish relies on your generosity. Your donations each year directly impact our ability to minister to those in need, to provide special programs such as Alpha and CGS, to offer small group faith studies, to maintain our buildings, and to grow our parish school.
Your Project Advance tax-deductible donation will fund important works such as:
- Youth and young adults ministry in our parishes
- The construction of new Catholic schools
- Programs that support healthy families
- Feeding the homeless and vulnerable in the Downtown Eastside
- Pastoral ministry and support for the hospitalized
Once St. Patrick’s parish goal is met, all additional funds raised will be directed back to parish projects identified by your Pastor and parish team. Thank you so much for your generosity.
Supporting Bishops in Their Pastoral Mission Across the Country. This annual initiative is an important opportunity for the faithful to actively support and assist the Bishops in
their ministry of accompanying, teaching, guiding, sanctifying, and caring for the Church in Canada.
Please support the Collection.
We thank you in advance for your generosity and continued commitment.

Welcome to Alpha at St. Patrick’s Parish.
This is a beautiful 16-week series where we watch a video and connect with one another as we discuss life’s most meaningful questions.
This fall we are offering 2 sessions –
- a Wednesday Evening experience starting September 18th from 6:00 to 8:00pm, which includes a delicious meal prepared by parishioners;
- or a Thursday morning experience starting September 19th from 9:00am to 11:00am where we enjoy our lovely Holy Grounds custom blended coffee alongside a morning savoury breakfast.
Those who have attended our Alpha program over the years have met their closest friends, joined small group faith studies, and found a second home here at our parish. We hope you will accept our warm invitation to this free and life-changing series.
Please register so we know how many to expect for dinner and have enough of everything for everyone. Thank you!
Get to know our Alpha Team
This week, featuring Irene Okere
- Why did you want to volunteer for Alpha?
- I wanted to be present to all who come, to connect with them so they feel welcomed, loved , and to know that they belong, that they matter . To partner with the Holy Spirit for what He wants to do . It’s a blessing to be a part of Alpha at St Pat’s.
- What is your favorite thing to do when you have a day of?
- I like to sleep in and rest but that doesn’t usually happen.
- What is your favorite meal?
- Jollof rice with fried plantain
- What are you hoping people get after coming to Alpha?
- Remember why we do Alpha in the first place;) I would like them to know that God who is infinitely perfect and blessed in himself loves them individually by name and that HE wants to share His blessed life with them and so He continues to draw close to each person inviting them into a personal relationship with Him.
Congratulations to Sherry Dacuyan, winner of our 50/50 draw at our Parish Festival!
Thank you to Sanjay Reddy and Prescilla Kumar for providing a delicious meal for our evening Alpha.
Thank you to Jodi Rattray for the amazing breakfast at our morning Alpha.
Thank you to Sarah Feigelstock and Cecille Yagi for serving in Holy Grounds this week.
Thank you to all of our CGS Catechists for their joyful service as they opened the Atriums to our prep students this week. May God bless them as they journey through this year of faith together.

Lewis’ classic work, “Mere Christianity.” Over six weeks, Dr. Andrew Kaethler will tease out its profound insights and lead you in great discussions. Likewise, the book’s shortcomings will be critiqued. These classes are meant for anyone who is looking to study/deepen their faith (not just university students). Addressing the Stigma: Equipping Parishes to Bridge Faith and Mental Health
Mental health is more and more “on the radar” in our culture as both awareness of the topic and the challenges many people experienced increase. The media gives more attention to this topic and our schools are often spaces where mental health takes a prominence. However, sometimes as a Church or parish there can be uncertainty about how to engage well with this topic. And the need is increasing.
If you’d like to be a part of the movement towards a Church culture that has a healthy response towards mental health challenges and appropriately understands and bridges the gap between faith and mental health, please join us on October 12th as we take a deeper dive into the topic and invite you to consider how you could be a part of moving the needle forward within your own parish.
Saturday, October 12 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at St. Matthew’s Parish in Surrey. Registration is $10.
