Rite of Election

A huge congratulations to our Elect and candidates who were accompanied by their sponsors this past Sunday. Ariana, Calle & Esther will receive baptism this year and Alex will be received into full communion. Please give them a huge congrats if you see them around the community. What a beautiful decision to a life long journey that they made!

Dear Parish Family,
We have an incredibly generous donor who has provided us with items to share with everyone. To make distribution fair and fun, we’ve decided to raffle them off. At our parish, we want people to feel safe and a sense of belonging; this community has a place for everyone- no matter where you come from, what you do, what you make and what your story is. We thought this would be a way to have fun with each other.
This online raffle has three high dollar items, and opens on the 18th:
- a 54″ Napoleon Electric Fireplace,
- a Napoleon Charcoal Grill,
- and an Excalibur 6-tray Digital Dehydrator.
Raffle tickets are $2.00 per ticket. You may buy as many tickets as you would like.
You must be a minimum of 18 years of age to enter, and we request that you pick up your winnings in person (we will not ship or mail any prizes).
Father Matthew will draw the winners on the 25th of March.
These items are donated to the parish and thus cannot be returned to the store that gifted them to us. Items are in as-is condition.
Proceeds from this fundraiser will be used towards the upkeep and running of our Holy Grounds coffeehouse and in preparation for our 100 year anniversary, which is happening next year.
We are excited to try this out!

Our Parish Food Recovery Program invites you to our bi-weekly giveaway! This week’s giveaway is on Sunday, March 14th at 5:30pm in the Parish School Gymnasium. Doors to the gym will be opened following the conclusion of the 4:30pm Mass.
Our expected donors are: Safeway Bakery, Port Coquitlam Costco, Starbucks and Save On Foods.

Reflection
Encountering the eternal love of God through prayer as we journey through the desert of our hearts is a firm foundation for what comes next. The second discipline that we practice during Lent is fasting.
Fasting is a way of opening our hearts to our deepest longings. Fasting orders our loves and desires.
Choose a mix of things to fast from and go deep with them. It can be a food item, an activity, a possession, words we say, things we do. When you find it difficult to say no to this item, this is good. This is where the conversation begins.
-Restore; Sr. Miriam James
Jesus, give me the courage to see what fasting reveals in my heart.
Help me to keep going on this journey.
Amen

Prayer for the Holy Father
Archbishop Miller asks you to join him in prayer for our Holy Father, Pope Francis, as he faces challenges with his health. May the Lord grant him strength, healing, and the comfort of our prayers.
Almighty ever-living God, eternal health of believers,
Who willed that our infirmities
Be borne by your Only-Begotten Son for our salvation,
Listen in kindness to our prayers
For your servant Francis, our Pope and Shepherd:
Grant him, we implore you, your merciful help,
So that he may be restored to your Church in good health,
Ever ready to serve the flock you have entrusted to his care.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
Who lives and reigns with you
In the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, for ever and ever.
Anchored in Hope Lent Retreat
This Lent provides us with an opportunity to dive even deeper into the themes of the Jubilee Year of Hope. We often are tempted to seek our security in things such as comforts, relationships, and attachments rather than finding it in Christ. Fr. Davide Lanzani will lead retreatants to make hope the anchor of their souls. At St. Jude Parish on Saturday April 5 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, lunch included. Register by April 1 at beholdvancouver.org/events.

No prior experience is needed—training, food, and accommodation are provided! Bursaries and fundraising options are available. Rachel’s Vineyard Retreat
“If someone has entered into your life and made a mess of your life or maybe you did it yourself… things you have done where you need to forgive yourself; you have broken stained glass windows in your life. Those pieces need to be given to God, and allow Him to pick up those pieces, put them together and He can make something even more beautiful.” Fr. Geraci
Are you ready to hand everything over to God? To let Him rebuild what is broken inside and allow Him to help you feel alive again? Join us on a Rachel’s Vineyard Retreat™ for healing after abortion. Next retreat is May 23-25, 2025. For confidential information call 604.525.0999 or email: [email protected]. Learn more about Rachel’s Vineyard at beholdvancouver.org/services.
