Bulletin: 8th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Extending a Warm Welcome to our incoming Archbishop Richard Smith

Appointment of The Most Reverend Richard W. Smith as Twelfth Archbishop of Vancouver
Early on Tuesday morning, the Vatican announced that Pope Francis has appointed Archbishop Richard W. Smith, currently Archbishop of Edmonton, as the next Archbishop of Vancouver. Archbishop Smith will succeed Archbishop J. Michael Miller, CSB who has served the archdiocese since 2009. Plans for the installation of the new archbishop are not yet finalized, but it will likely take place in late May. During this time of transition, we give thanks for Archbishop Miller and his service to the Church and welcome Archbishop Smith, who will be joining our community very soon. Please continue to keep these shepherds close in prayer in the months ahead.

Prayer for the Holy Father
Archbishop Miller asks you to join him in prayer for our Holy Father, Pope Francis, as he faces challenges with his health. May the Lord grant him strength, healing, and the comfort of our prayers.
Almighty ever-living God, eternal health of believers,
Who willed that our infirmities
Be borne by your Only-Begotten Son for our salvation,
Listen in kindness to our prayers
For your servant Francis, our Pope and Shepherd:
Grant him, we implore you, your merciful help,
So that he may be restored to your Church in good health,
Ever ready to serve the flock you have entrusted to his care.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
Who lives and reigns with you
In the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, for ever and ever.

Our parish relies on your generosity. Your donations each year directly impact our ability to minister to those in need, to provide special programs such as Alpha and CGS, to offer small group faith studies, to maintain our buildings, and to grow our parish school.

REFLECTION
Lent begins this Wednesday, March 5, 2025 with a day of fasting and prayer. More than simply a call to give up creature comforts, Lent invites us to confront our vulnerability and embrace our brokenness. As we attend our first Mass of this seasonal period of reflection and receive ashes on Wednesday, let us take the time to pray and reflect on all that the year has brought us and all that lies ahead of us and press the pause button.
God, heavenly Father, look upon me and hear my prayer during this holy Season of Lent. By the good works You inspire, help me to discipline my body and to be renewed in spirit. Without You I can do nothing. By Your Spirit help me to know what is right and to be eager in doing Your will.
Prepare yourself for Lent

Ash Wednesday Masses – March 5 – 9:00am (with the parish school children) and 6:30pm
The 6:30pm Mass will be LiveStreamed – CLICK HERE to view the LiveStream.
God of love, bring me back to You.
Send Your Spirit to make me strong in faith and active in good works.
May my acts of penance bring me Your forgiveness, open my heart to Your love, and prepare me for the coming feast of the Resurrection of Jesus.
Prayer – FRIDAYS OF LENT

March 7th & April 4th – please join us for an evening of Encounter, which includes Eucharistic Adoration, Praise & Worship, and Healing Prayer.
March 14th, 21st, 28th & Apr 11th – please join us for the Stations of the Cross.
Lord, during this Lenten Season, nourish me with Your Word of life and make me one with You in love and prayer.
Fill my heart with Your love and keep me faithful to the Gospel of Christ.
Give me the grace to rise above my human weakness.
Give me new life by Your Sacraments, especially the Mass.
Father, our source of life, I reach out with joy to grasp Your hand;
let me walk more readily in Your ways. Guide me in Your gentle mercy, for left to myself I cannot do Your Will.
Reconciliation
Regular weekly confessions are available on Tuesdays at 6pm, Saturdays at 4:15pm, and by appointment.
LENT PENITENTIAL SERVICE @ ST. PATRICK’S

Father of love, source of all blessings, help me to pass from my old life of sin to the new life of grace.

Amen.
