We all need a soft landing this year; please join us in preparation for advent…

Dear St. Patrick’s Family,

The season is upon us to prepare for the coming of our Lord.  A precious time to reflect on the year behind us, and prepare for what is ahead.

This year, we all are hearing of the challenges suffered by many and experiencing our own troubled waters.  When is there a better time to press pause, take a breath, and find community?

St. Patrick’s is offering a pathway to Advent and we hope you can find the time to join us.  If cost is an issue for any event, please reach out, as we truly want you with us.

Coming back- an old St Patrick’s tradition! We invite you to craft your family Advent Wreath with us on Wednesday, November 29 from 6:00 to 8:00pm in the gym.  Our Altar Servers and CGS are providing us with a hot chocolate bar with Lorraine Holt’s world famous, hot apple cider.

Tickets ($15) include your wreath making kit and an evening door prize. and will also enter you into an evening door prize.  Pay online or stop by the office. If you’ve paid online, you will get the chance to collect your tickets at the door.

Saturday, December 2 (Women’s) & Sunday, December 3 at 7pm (Men’s)

We are honored to have two guest speakers join us for our Advent nights.  These speakers are here to share their stories with us. We invite you to come listen, reflect and abide in our Father’s presence as we enter more deeply into this prayerful season.

Shawna Zadeiks will be sharing her testimony and how she encountered the Father. Shawna is a beloved wife and mama to 3 beautiful adult children. She loves to thrift for fashion and helps run Alpha for school parents at St. Anthony’s school in Vancouver.

Fr. Francesco Voltaggio will be sharing his encounter with the Father. He is a Catholic priest of the Redemptoris Mater order where community is one of the biggest values. He has been on mission in various places including the Yukon. He has just finished his year of studying in Rome.

Following the talks in the church, we hope you will join us at Holy Grounds for refreshments and food.

Invite your friends. Invite your co-workers. Invite those outside the parish. This event is for anyone that you think would benefit from a slow and intentional start to this Advent season.

Registration for the Advent retreat night is $25 and sold at the office or online.

WE ARE CLOSING REGISTRATION ON TUESDAY AT 8:59PM.

Our Giving Tree is commencing December 6th, 2023 on the Feast of St. Nicholas, who is known for his generosity and kindness for the poor and unhappy

We know that sometimes asking for help is difficult; however, in our community we desire to support and love every member. Sometimes how we love looks like prayers, and sometimes, it looks like practical financial help especially during pressured times. Both are so incredibly needed to build the Kingdom of God in the heart of humans. Both are needed to show the real person of Jesus.

To support those in need in our community, we are accepting only gift cards this year from December 6th to 15th.

A suggestion for gift cards:

  1. Superstore
  2. Walmart
  3. No Frills
  4. Shoppers
  5. Save On etc…

Please refrain from gift cards that require a membership or restaurant gift cards with high food costs.

Please bring donated gift cards to the Parish Office.

Thank you all for your generous hearts. St. Ignatius of Loyola said, “Love is shown more in deeds than in words”. We are so grateful for the kindness of our community.

If you know of a family in need, please share this link with them to complete so that they may receive a gift card: https://forms.gle/isTodc92XzxmHiax9

7am Rorate Masses on Wednesdays are starting up again!

The three Rorate Masses are scheduled for December 6th, December 13th & December 20th.

These Masses are celebrated in the dark, only illuminated by candlelight  and just before dawn.  This speaks of the general theme of Advent, a time of expectation eagerly awaiting the arrival of the Son of God, the Light of the World.

After Mass, please come for a reception in Holy Grounds provided by our wonderful volunteers who woke up extra early to help.

We thank you and we bless you for being a part of St. Patrick’s.  We pray that this year’s simple pathway to the advent of our Lord Jesus brings to you all of the joy and comfort and fulfillment that is desired in this most precious time of the year.

God Bless You and all our very best wishes,

The team at St. Patrick’s
