2nd Lenten Sunday February 25
Fasting and Freedom of Heart
REFLECTION
Encountering the eternal love of God through prayer as we journey through the desert of our hearts is a firm foundation for what comes next. The second discipline that we practice during Lent is fasting.
Fasting is a way of opening our hearts to our deepest longings. Fasting orders our loves and desires.
Choose a mix of things to fast from and go deep with them. It can be a food item, an activity, a possession, words we say, things we do. When you find it difficult to say no to this item, this is good. This is where the conversation begins.
-Restore; Sr. Miriam James
PRAYER
Jesus, give me the courage to see what fasting reveals in my heart.
Help me to keep going on this journey.
Amen
Friday March 1st, we are combining this monthly Encounter with a NEW Lenten Parish Mission.
Lent is a perfect time to reflect on the crevices of our hearts and evaluate where we stand with God, ourselves and others. We see Lent as a potential avenue of healing & restoration. You may also find you desire more quiet time with the Lord.
Bread and Soup are served from 5:30-6:30pm. PLEASE REGISTER.
Encounter with a testimony followed by Adoration and Benediction is from 7pm to 8:30pm. No Registration Required.
From 5:30-6:30pm, we will be serving vegetable soup & bread in Holy Grounds. For this portion, please register you and the number of people you will be bringing.
We have limited capacity so we will be capping registration after a certain number.
The Encounter portion of this event begins at 7pm and ends at 8:30.
You do not need to register for the Encounter portion.
Come pray and worship with us.
Come hear Mike’s story
The journey you are about to make is dangerous, for if you truly follow the Lord into the desert, you will never be the same. If you enter into this time with Him from the heart, you will emerge with a heart that has been changed. Yours will be a heart that sees more deeply, is pierced more easily, loves more strongly, and lives more passionately. Jesus will be etched into the crevices of your being.
-Sr. Miriam James Headland
The Stations of the Cross is a Lenten devotion that offers witness to Jesus’ Passion and Death. At each station we use our senses and our imagination to reflect prayerfully upon Jesus’ suffering, Death, and Resurrection, and to experience the visual images to reflect on Christ’s love for us.
