Catholic Spiritual Care Available after Lapu-Lapu Festival Tragedy
In these days of sorrow following the tragedy at the Lapu-Lapu Day Festival in Vancouver, I continue to hold you all, especially our Filipino community, in my prayers.
If you or your loved ones are seeking spiritual care, Catholic hospital chaplains are available to offer prayer, support, and the Sacraments, including Anointing of the Sick. Faith-based counselling and other spiritual supports are also available to help individuals and families carry their grief with hope.
Resources are likewise available for clergy, parish staff, ministry leaders, and Catholic educators to accompany those affected by trauma, drawing on the best practices of pastoral care.
For more information on these supports, please visit rcav.org/lapu-lapu
May our merciful Lord bring healing to all who are suffering, and may our Blessed Mother comfort every broken heart.
+ J. Michael Miller, CSB
Apostolic Administrator
Our parish relies on your generosity. Your donations each year directly impact our ability to minister to those in need, to provide special programs such as Alpha and CGS, to offer small group faith studies, to maintain our buildings, and to grow our parish school.

On April 26, our community was shaken by the tragic events at the Lapu-Lapu Day Festival in Vancouver. In solidarity with those most affected, Archbishop Miller has called for a special appeal to provide critical support for survivors and their families. Your gift will help meet immediate needs and ensure that ongoing healing and outreach services are available in the weeks and months ahead. A second collection will be taken at our parish this weekend of May 3–4. You can also make a donation at rcav.org. Donations of $20 or more made online will be issued a tax receipt.

On the behalf of the Parish and Father Matthew, I would like to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for your hard work and dedication in making both the retreat and the First Holy Communion Mass and reception so special. These events would not have been possible without your support, effort, and generous spirit.
There are so many people to thank, and I truly appreciate everything that went into planning, setting up, guiding the children, and making the experience meaningful for all.
Most importantly, I hope that the children were the ones who received the greatest blessings from all that was done.
School staff : Maria Fonseca , Tara Wagg, Andrea Powell
CGC Catechists : Denyse Hay , Lisa Cheah and Kristina McBride
Emma Steele and Monika Tabada for organizing the food

We would like to extend a special thank you to Father Ching and his ministry, the Companions of the Cross for coming to our parish again to offer two healing Masses.
Thank you to all of those who made our Healing Mission at St. Patrick’s possible this past week providing meals for both Father Ching and Father Matthew.
We’re also very grateful to Randy Tabada for his dedicated service during Father Ching’s visit.
As the mission is ongoing throughout this weekend with Called & Gifted, there will be a follow-up acknowledgement and information about these special events in our next bulletin.

As we conclude our Healing Mission at St. Patrick’s Parish, we invite you to join us this Sunday after the 9am and 11:15am Masses at Holy Grounds for good coffee, conversation, and community.
See you there!
