St. Pat’s Highlights

We are currently accepting fundraising efforts for the Catholic Youth conference at Archbishop Carney high school on May 3, 2025. This is a full-day event where youth can anchor themselves in Jesus and explore ways to be anchored in hope and how spiritual growth, joy and peace are part of the journey. Easter Sunday

REFLECTION

This is the fullness of all things! God is sovereign! All time, every moment of our lives, belongs to Him. We belong to Him. Though we have fallen into brokenness and darkness, His glorious wounds heals us, guards us, and it is the Light of Christ that dispels the darkness. Prayer, fasting and almsgiving, are means that restore us back into communion with God, the Father, with ourselves, with each other. We are no longer slaves to sin and death. We are children of God.Jesus Christ is risen! Truly, He is risen! … and so are you!
-Restore; Sr. Miriam James

PRAYER

All glory and praise to Lord Jesus Christ!
You alone are Holy! You alone are Lord!
May our endless thanksgiving of being loved and rescued
bring glory to the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit!
Now and Forever!!!!
Amen

Archbishop Miller’s Easter Message

Dear brother and sisters in the Risen Lord:

“I have risen and I am with you still.”

May these words resound in all our hearts as we celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus this Easter. After his Death on the cross, He has conquered sin and death by rising from the tomb.

We joyfully shout that Jesus is alive. He is our hope. He is with us in our disappointments, our hardships and our doubts. He is with us even when we stray and cannot find our way back to him. The Risen One is always there for us, our families and our parish communities.

With the liturgical Easter Sequence, as pilgrims of hope during this Jubilee Year, we gladly repeat: “Christ, my hope, is risen!” During this year of grace, we are recipients of this new and living hope of eternal life.

The Resurrection solidly anchors this hope, which does not disappoint us. On Easter morning, Jesus’ light dispelled the darkness of the tomb. Today, He wants His light to penetrate even to the darkest corners of our lives.

It is through His Death and Resurrection that Jesus rescues us and gives us new life. Because we are united to Him in Baptism, we, too, have risen. We have passed from death to life, from the slavery of sin to the freedom of the children of God.

For Jesus to draw “all people to himself,” to answer the questions and that people everywhere ask, He needs us, his People of the Archdiocese of Vancouver. We are His eyes and ears, His arms and legs in this corner of the Vineyard.

The good Lord has called us out of darkness into His marvelous light, to proclaim everywhere His mighty works. Just as Jesus entrusted His disciples with a mission before returning to His Father, today he sends us out into our world as His heralds of hope, accompanying us with His presence: “I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Mt 28:20).

May the Blessed Virgin Mary, the silent witness of her Son’s Death and Resurrection, whose hope remained ever alive, increase our hope in Him who promises that He will make all things new.

With my blessing and prayers that you and your loved ones will enjoy the many graces of this special Easter season during this Jubilee Year of Hope,

Archbishop Miller’s Message for the Federal Election

Dear brother and sisters in Christ,

On Monday, April 28, Canadians will elect our next federal government. I encourage all Catholics in the Archdiocese of Vancouver to participate thoughtfully and prayerfully in this democratic process. Our faith does not align itself with any political party, but it does compel us to be engaged citizens. Each of us has an obligation to form our consciences guided by Church’s social teaching and seeking the common good of all, especially the most vulnerable.

To help you prepare, I encourage you to use the resources provided by Catholic Conscience, a non-partisan organization dedicated to helping Catholics bring Gospel values into public life. Their 2025 Federal Election Guide presents a helpful comparison of party platforms through the lens of Catholic social teaching and offers reflections on key issues such as the sanctity of life, care for creation, economic justice, religious freedom, and the dignity of the human person.

As Pope Francis reminds us, “A good Catholic meddles in politics” because we are called to shape society in ways that reflect the love and mercy of Christ. I urge you to approach this election with a well-formed conscience, guided by prayer, reason, and the truths of our faith.

May the Holy Spirit grant you wisdom as you prepare to cast your vote.

With the assurance of my prayers, I remain,

Sincerely yours in Christ,

✠ J. Michael Miller, CSB
